Ah yes WWE Backlash the pay per view to follow the 2 night spectacle that is Wrestlemania, only something seemed off this year when it came to Backlash......the lack of a build leading up to this pay per view.
United States championship fatal 4 way, will Jacob Fatu be able to successfully defend his title on this his first defense or will the hatred of the other men be too much in this equation? Can Dom overcome the evil glares from fellow Judgement Day member Finn Balor and retain the Intercontinental championship or will Balor help Dom in exchange for a favor down the road? Can Lyra Valkyria overcome a woman who was once her idol or will The Man prove that she is too much for the rising Irish star? Pat McAfee a man fighting for the love of his commentary brother against one of the hardest hitting men in the locker room Gunther, will Pat's love and willingness to stand up for what's right be enough to knock down the 6 foot giant or will Gunther bring a better fight against him than he did Jey Uso?
The end of an era, the last time ever; these words were used to describe iconic matches like Triple H and Undertaker's Hell in a Cell match at Wrestlemania 28. John Cena vs Randy Orton for the final time and for the WWE championship, a feud spanning 25 years has now been flipped on it's head because for the first time Cena is the villain in Randy's story and Randy is looking to put him down once and for all. Can the Viper capture number 15 and put himself another step closer to now defeating John Cena's record or will the lack of hustle, loyalty and respect with zero entertainment in the ring stand tall once again after his garbage match at Wrestlemania?

Wrestling has more than one royal family. Whoa. What is up guys? Welcome back to Resting Crossroads. As always, I am one half dynamic due Twisted, doing a solo run today, as unfortunately Brother Pyro was unable to join us. We are talking WWBE back lash. So jumping right into it, we have the United States Championship being defended by Jacob Tu he takes on LA Night, Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre. Now looking at the predictions, I'm gonna jump right into that before I get into kind of how we got here. Everybody aside from one newly entered family member has chosen Jacob Fatou and the newly entered family member whose name will be going by Rido has chosen Damian Priest. now we got here because, as we know for WrestleMania. Jacob had a match against Ellie Knight, who was the champion at the time, and ended up winning the Tottle off of him the previous, the Friday right after WrestleMania, we had Jacob come out with Solo, which led to Ellie Knight saying that he wanted his chance at the championship again. He wanted his rematch. Drew came out saying that he wanted to fight the baddest. And we ended up having a match later that night for the number one contender ship of this ma of the title. Um, upon going through that match on Friday, Damien Priest did end up interfering in the match, thus leading to this fatal four-way. Um, everyone in their reasonings going, Jacob, uh, brother Pyro says that they have built him in a way, um, to be too strong and there's no way he drops it after two weeks. Desario is kind of on the same page. Any other answer other than FA two is wrong. The only scenario I see him losing is his solo costs him, which is another possibility in this. And looking at the fatal four-way. From Cauldron and Hex, they're unsure as to why Redose chose Damian Priest, but they went fought too because of the personal drama between the other three competitors thinking that that's going to cost them. Before costs fought too, which I entirely agree with their thoughts and their scenario in that. Next up we have the Intercontinental Championship. Dominic Mysterio takes on Penta. Um, so this kind of stems again, another one from WrestleMania, where Penta and Dom were in a fatal four way during mania for the IC championship. The. Champion at the time currently being Braun Breaker and uh, Dominic's other stable mate, Finn Ballor being in the match as well. Dom ended up picking up the win in that match at mania. So Dom being in the newly crowned intercontinental champion now faces Penta. Looking at our predictions, we are three and four. Brother pyro, hex and cauldron are choosing Penta, whereas myself, flash, Desario and ose are all choosing Dom to retain his championship. Um, looking at all of our prediction wise, brother Pyro says, uh, Pento winds via Finn attempting to help and it costing Dominic in the end. We have Desario saying, taking Dom for the first time in a long time, judgment day will interfere. Fin will most likely cost Dom, but the numbers spelled judgment. Today, maybe after the match, Ray Phoenix comes out to stop the beat down on Penta, reuniting the Luce Bros. I know that if Brother Pyro were here, he would say, you know, to Rio's comment, keep the lucha bros apart. I know Brother P is very high on the fact that they are keeping them on separate brands and would like to see their time in WWE e be separate more than together as of right then now in this point. So sorry for that one to, sorry, but I gotta go with Brother P on that. Um. For the he's household, we have Dom versus Penta. Um, obviously Caldron and her went with Penta because they feel that Finn will betray him, and Tico went Dom because he feels it is too soon for him to lose it. And I entirely agree with rid on this one. It is way too early for Dom to lose it as he just won it and the pop that he got upon winning. This was insane. I do apologize if I sound like I'm all over the place. I'm trying to make sure that I cover everything as we go through this.'cause again, we're doing a solo run through this. Uh, next match on the card we have Women's Intercontinental Championship. Ra Val Curia takes on Becky Lynch. Now, Becky Lynch was a name that we didn't hear for a long time. WrestleMania comes around. Lyra's original tag team partner going into WrestleMania was Bailey. Bailey ended up being attacked before night one had even started. She went out and got herself a new tag team partner that ended up being Becky Lynch. Um, Becky came in, they won the tag titles at Mania the next Monday. They ended up dropping it to Raquel and Live of Judgment Day again and. Becky attacked. Lyra has been stating for the past couple weeks that Lyra wouldn't be where she is had it not been for Becky. She has essentially given her all of her fame, all of her glory. Um, the, the title we're in that she currently has would be nothing if it wasn't for Becky. Stepping through the ropes first, Lara being Lara and knowing that. You know, she does great on her own, has essentially said, look, you don't speak for me and you're not the reason that I'm here. Going into our predictions, we are pretty much split where we have Brother pyro myself and Daario taking Becky. Flash, cauldron, hex and tus are all choosing RA for this one. Um, going into reasonings, brother pyro just says Becky d Deros, RA, they give it to her to start a feed with Bailey. I completely agree with that one. I could totally see that working or they give, you know. They give Becky this really big heel angle, which is what I think Brother Pyro is kind of more or less going towards. Uh, Desario says Becky versus Lara. Cy. Becky wins, gets some sympathy for Lara, sets up a feud with Bailey. Becky can now add another trophy to her mantle like she needs it. Clearly with the vagus sarcasm. Rolling eye emoji you could ever put. Um, Lyra versus Becky for the Hex household. We all think we all went to Lira because we think Bailey will return and be a distraction. I do th think that that is a really good answer to this, but I also feel on, you know, being devil's advocate for or against, um, the hex household. Would it be the distraction for ra or would it be a distraction for Becky? Because Becky is known in these high stakes to not necessarily take her eyes off the ball as quickly as a newcomer like Lyra. So I'm, I'm curious to know where this goes with that. Next, on the card we have Pat McAfee versus Gunther. Um, this came about. Because after WrestleMania and losing his world championship to Jay USO via a Tapout, Gunther was kind of on a bit of a rampage and started talking, smacked the commentators. Michael Cole doing his complete job, had said, Hey, it's not my fault you tapped out. I, I, I don't know what you want me to do. I can't. Give you another match because that's, you know, that's not my job. Gunther gets mad, uh, tries attacking Cole and McAfee steps in showing so much love for the person that he does commentary with, steps in front and takes, uh, essentially a beating, um, a knockout from Gunther. To the point where the next time we were back on air after that on Monday, all you saw was Pat McAfee being helped to the back, trying to get a glass of water and just being completely red-faced. Um, going into our predictions, we have brother Pyro, desario, and Hex all choosing Gunther. The rest of us went Pat McAfee mainly to, you know, kind of see the underdog I would assume. Be the one to take the reins and win this. Uh, brother Pyro says Gunther is going to murder Pat. We definitely know that that is a possibility, but we have seen, you know. Pat kind of hold his own in in some aspect. Desario says, this match has no business being on the show or any show Really, Gunther wins. Hands down. McAfee will put up a small fight, but this is just setting up a return for Goldberg to have one last fight with Gunther, which has been the biggest rumor. It may not be on this show, he comes back, but this is phase one for that plan. I do know, as I had stated, that um, you know, there is a plan for the Gunther to be Goldberg's retirement match. And I hope when that comes, that Gunther really gives him hell, uh, the hex household, pat versus Gunther. She was the only one that went Gunther, obviously, where Cogen and Medico, as I said, went Pat McAfee. She went Gunther because her rational brain thinks Pat will be reduced to a puddle by Gunther. Main event time we are rolling up is a icon for. Uh, the ages essentially, John Cena takes on Randy Orton in what is essentially to be the end of an era, the last time ever, as this is John Cena's, farewell tour. Going back, we're gonna do a little bit of a, a history look before we get into, um, all of our predictions and that. So the first time these two really ever squared up was back in Ohio Valley wrestling or OVW as it was known back then, it was W'S former development territory. Um. John Cena being known as the prototype at the time. This was right before the attitude era had kind of swept in both men. This was about 2002. So they had broken into the industry roughly about 2000 at this point. Um, most notably, um. The prototype defeated Cowboy Bob Orton's son for the OVW Championship in the latter's final match with the company. Um, as WWBE at the time had very big plans for Randy Orton moving their main roster at this time. Again, you know, John Cena had, um. It was kind of on the fence of being fired or actually being used. Um, their next bout came in 2007. By this point, we had already seen John Cena come up as the prototype, be the doctor of Omics, and at this time he had became that big superhero with hustle, loyalty, and respect. Um, and this was around the time where Randy was being called the Legend Killer. He was the youngest champion ever going into this. Um, the two had fought very valiantly at no Mercy, I believe it was, and some slam. I, I I could be wrong a hundred percent on that. Uh, number three. Two, two or three. I would essentially say three in their feud. Also featured Triple H. This is when Cena had suffered the very bad pectoral injury via Orton. Uh, storyline wise, he was supposed to be gone for at least six months. He had returned after four at the Royal Rumble. That's when he got the very big pop when he won. Um, thereafter. It was Sena, Orton and Triple H who met in a triple threat match at the next WrestleMania and Sena had retained the championship less than a month later. Orton was pulled, pulled off a similar tactic in a fatal four-way at backlash when he eliminated Sena with a punt after Cena forced JVL to tap. Um. Going on to one of their next feuds. We are taken to 2009, and if you know anything about 2009, Randy Orton, this was the Bald Randy Orton, the Menace, the I am going to do anything I can to put my opponent in the ground six feet under they, um. At this time, Randy had his pals in the legacy, Cody Rhodes and Ted Dii Jr. They'd locked horns with the, the McMahons. Uh, by the time summer had rolled around, Orton's medical and physical transformations were complete. They, uh, this is when, you know, he was kind of at his peak of sadistic. Cena had, uh, officially ended Randy Orton's reign in 60 Minutes in an Ironman match at this time. Um, going on to the next, we have the enemy of, my enemy is my friend, the unlikely alliance when Cena was. Going up against the nexus and ended up being a special guest referee in a match via Randy and Barrett, the championship unification, which was 2013 to 2014, at this time you had, I believe Cena was the, World Heavyweight and Randy Orton was the WWE E champion. And this is when they decided that they were gonna blend the two titles. Randy Orton was the first one to pick up the win in this feud. A couple months later they ended up having, um, John Cena win it as well. And then that turned into the feud of the summer via the Authority and Daniel Bryan, which turned into Yes Mania the next year. Now that leads us to the role reversal where for the first time ever, Cena is heel and Orton is face. And obviously that leads us into where we are now going into our predictions. And again, I do apologize if that was kind of all over the place. I was trying to read all my pinpoints that I had. On their feud and how long this has been going on because this is essentially 25 years that you're trying to recap in something so small. Um, but going into the predictions, we have rido as the only one to choose. Randy Orton coming out of this as the new champion, making him a 15 time champion. Were as the rest of us. Are choosing John Cena specifically Desario, and I'm gonna entirely piggyback off of it. So this will be one of the very rare times that Desario and I agree on something. John Cena winning by disqualification is what Desario and I are calling. Uh, brother P'S reasoning says Cena, as much as I love Orton, I think Cody's going to get a redemption arc again. We have not seen Cody Rose since WrestleMania when we had one of the worst main event matches of all time. Um, going into Deros reasoning, Sena versus Orton, I get the build, but it seems familiar to the Cody story and the fact that Sena comes out says the same thing about the fans and how he's here to ruin wrestling, gets laid out, rinse and repeat. Nothing suggests he's losing the title to Randy Cena is probably going to get himself DQ to hold onto the belt. Uh, if anybody remembers back when they were also feuding previously, Randy Orton and John Cena, I believe it was their second or third feud in their line, um, Randy Orton had slapped the ref in order to get himself disqualified to keep his championship from Cena. That was a big speculation between Brother Pyro and I on if this was actually going to happen. The hex hold hex household, uh, states, Orton versus Cena. Both cauldron and hex have chosen Cena for the simple reason, if it's not being time and possible outside interference. Um, so they're saying it's not time for Cena to drop it yet necessarily. Uh, Tico has chosen origin because he likes Orton like the rest of us. Tico being very new to this, obviously still has that very fresh brain of, I'm going to go for more of the ones that I like and that's who I'm favoring to win This kind of like how Flash has been on some of our. You know, earlier projects, but nowadays Flash has kind of gone with the, I'm gonna go for the more practical answer. Uh, that does conclude W2 B backlash. I'm so sorry that this is such a smaller episode. Again, I don't have brother to banter back and forth with, uh, there's only five matches on the card, but I definitely do hope you guys. Enjoy the show. We will have brother P back for our recap, uh, sometime either late Sunday or Monday, but when that comes, it will come. I wish all the mothers that listen to us a Happy Mother's Day out there as that is this weekend. And with that being said, you guys enjoy the show and we will see you later. Bye-bye.
