SummerSlam 2025 recap

The biggest event of the summer and as confirmed by WWE the 2 night event is here to stay. Night 1 started off with our OTC Roman Reigns and Main Event Jey Uso taking on Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed in what one can only call a meat fest. Following that we saw ‘The Judegment Days’ Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez put their tag titles on the line against the most unlikely of duos in Charlotte and Alexa Bliss, after a fairly even match up we are happy to announce NEW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS in Charlotte and Alexa. We saw Sami Zayn do exactly what he promised he was going to do by beating Karrion Kross. Jade Cargill and Tiffany Stratton had what Brother Pyro would call a mid match but in her SummerSlam debut Cargill learned it always ‘TIFFY Time’. Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul teamed up against Randy Orton and Jelly Roll, although Jelly Roll took most of the fight he didn’t have enough in him at the end of the day falling victim to Logan Paul. Main Event if Night 1 saw Gunther taking on CM Punk with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line, each man thought they had each others number many times throughout even digging deep into their bag of tricks ultimately to everyone’s shock your NEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION CM PUNK! But before Punk could celebrate with the ruse of the century Seth Rollins cashes in to reclaim the World Heavyweight Championship. Night 2 opens up with the triple threat match for the Women’s World Heavyweight Championship Naomi’s father proves to be good luck as she walks out victorious against Rhea and IYO. To follow a chaotic TLC match where the Wyatt Sicks prevailed. Womens IC title No DQ match had us scratching our heads with a noticeable botch. Solo Sikoa vs. Jacob Fatu fell completely flat, leading us into the IC title match where both AJ and Dom payed tribute to the late Eddie Guerrero. Finally the main event where Cody Rhodes fights the real John Cena for the WWE Championship, after digging d

Wrestling has more than one royal family. Whoa. What is up guys? It's Brother Pyro here for another episode of Wrestling Crossroads and teaming with me today is our lovely hex. I hope everybody had a good weekend and enjoyed the first ever two night summer slam. We are here to recap it. Let's start with night one kicking off the show. Jay and Roman teaming up against Bronson, Reed and Braun Breaker. What a match. It was a really good match actually. It was. It was better than I anticipated, if I'm gonna be completely honest. Yeah, I was. I was a little worried. I was a little worried. Well,'cause dude, the action got started right off the gate. Roman and Jay kind of took over pretty early. I love the. Bring up. Yes. Bring up. And then the, and he's looking at Roman is like, so we gonna run duck, the tribal chief en endorsement, the tribal chief endorsement, and then Roman got into it and it was great. Mid match shit. Everybody, he, it was great until Bronson Reed and Bron Breaker had to mess that up by Paul Roman out the ring. Yeah. Well we knew it had to happen. You are right. You are right. Um, uh, like I said, good, good tag match. Both teams really working in, in great cohesion. Mm-hmm. Although we weren't really worried about it necessarily. Well, given, given the fact that, you know, Roman's kind of done his own thing for the most part. Mm-hmm. Kind of piggybacked off of others doing the work for him. I was still just a little nervous there. I. Think after they already like kinda kind of ran it back like old bloodline. I was pretty confident that this was gonna be okay. Okay. That's right. That's right. They already kind of tested the waters. They had their little bit of little family issue there with egos, and then they kind of smoothed, smoothed it over. Uh, but no, I wanna, let's just talk right into our closing moments, everybody. It's a brawl Roman taking that sacrificial bullet. Mm-hmm. For Jay, knowing Jay's the legal competitor. Breaker's the legal competitor, Jay getting Roman, pushing Jay out the way shows how much Roman has grown mm-hmm. As a competitor and maybe now as like a family man. Mm-hmm. Because this isn't, you know, Roman, a year or two ago. I'm the one in charge. You're gonna do for me. Yep. Everyone else was moving Roman out the way. Yeah. Now he's like the chance turned and he's doing things for others too. And that did allow the bloodline to pick up the 1, 2, 3 and get the win to start night one's actions. It was a nice kickoff to night one. Yeah, it was. It was. At least didn't fall flat. So that part. That part right there for sure. All right, go ahead and take us into night or into um, match number two. Alright, so match number two was for the women's tag titles Judgment Days, Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez versus. The team of, we're not friends. Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair. Excuse me. Still picking on each other. Still. Awesome. Remember, remember They're not friends though. Nope. They're allies of convenience, but she sure let it slip during the post show nowadays. Oh, they definitely did. I saw little clips of that and I laughed. So you said it, that was great. It was pretty great. It was pretty great. Oh, but they, both teams, they really showed out. They, they showed each other's strengths. They showed each other's weaknesses. We got some miscommunications, you know, between, you know, Charlotte and Alek Sub. I don't think there was really much of a miscommunication. That was just Roxanne playing really good defense. Yeah, yeah. Pulling her partner out of harm's way. For sure. For sure. Um, had a failed sister Abigail attempt was countered. Yep. And Ms. Perez, if I remember correctly, it's hard to remember night one after watching night two. I mean, I feel like that's fair Night. Night two was definitely, especially with all those intense matches in night two. Oh my gosh. So match. I feel like you could have, I feel like you could have mixed in a few here and a few like mm-hmm. I, I don't know. I feel like a few matches from night. One could have went to night two and night two could have went to night one. Maybe balance out the shelves a little bit. Yeah. That, that, that definitely would've been nice. That definitely would've been nice. Alright. But you know, um, either way between an accidental kick to the dome of, uh, who, who was the accidental kick to Flare? Flare kicked Alexa. Okay. So, yep. So Flair accidentally, uh, laid out. Alexa. I thought it was the other way around though. It might've. I think it, Nope, I think you're right. I think you're right. Yeah. And the complete look of utter shock on her face that she, I'm so worried. I did not mean to do that. It seems every time something like that happens, she's more worried about Charlotte Flair being mad at her. I mean, I feel like that's fair. You're fair. It's the queen. She has a temper. Temper. She does. And you know, you're trying not to get on her bad side, especially when you, you're trying to win some gold. For sure. I agree. Um, so in the, in the closing moments of this, um, I don't necess, do you remember how the closing match of this went? Closing moments? We were able to get, uh, Roxanne is set up in the Sister Abigail. Charlotte gets herself back into the ring, is able to uh, big boot Raquel out the ring, uh, out run interference, play defense. They set up that Sister Abigail DDT. Still a really beautiful move. Mm-hmm. And pin 1, 2, 3. Your new women's tag team champions, Alexa Bliss and shirt flare. I was really hoping for an homage moment. And there the sister Abigail and as they go for the pin, the point out to the spear, I think I've showed you this, uh, a few years back, Ray Wyatt and Roman Rains teamed had a tag team match. I think it was on like a random episode of Raw. He hits the si Ray hit the sister Abigail, he went for the cover and. Uh, I wanna say they were taking on the bar, which was SRO and Seamus. They, uh, as SRO went to go break up the pin. Brae just points and like a bullet coming out of a gun. Here comes Roman with the spear to prevent the breakup. It's probably one of the most beautiful moments I've ever seen. I really, really wanted that moment. That's what I thought was gonna happen when I saw Charlotte get back in the rink last night or on a night one. Mm-hmm. And I'm kind of disappointed it didn't happen. I needed that moment. We created it. It's gonna be okay. Yeah, it's gonna be okay. But I going into match number three, carrying cross versus Sammy Zane. Not a lot really here. Not really anything here. This match was kind of disappointing. And by kind of, I mean, extremely disappointed, it was way too quick. It was, you really didn't give us much of anything. No. Like obviously the steel pipe came into play'cause we all knew it was Scarlet. Tried to, uh, get Sammy to use it. It just didn't work. Mm-hmm. Asked him, he said no. They would've hit the hall luva kick Right. Shortly after and pick up the one. Yeah. That looks like Monday. We're gonna have cross admitting, you know, he was wrong because that was the, uh, agreed upon stipulation. Mm-hmm. Or the agreed upon moment. There was that nod from carrying cross in the middle of the ring when Sammy Zane did turn back, you know? Yeah. I think, I think that was the, I knew. Mm-hmm. But again, there really wasn't much of anything to this match. No. All right, so the next match we had was for the WWB women's Title, Tiffany Stratton versus Jade Cargill. I, I don't, I was rather unimpressed in this match, a slightly above average match if you ask me slightly above average. Um, either way, we, we had some good points. You know, we got to see a lot of the, the strength from Jade Cargill. We got to see some moon salt action. We got to see why Tiffy is who she is as the, as a women's, you know, champion. I was talking, uh, twisted too about it. Uh, not the, or like mid match or before the or Yeah. Mid match. We were talking and I was just like, dude matches is pretty underwhelming. And I think it's just'cause they don't have the chemistry in reading together yet. Like obviously it takes a while to, whether you're a tag team or whether you're going against each other, you gotta have some kind of chemistry in that ring. And unfortunately, Tiffy and Jade just don't have the level of chemistry to make, uh, to make it work right now. I would love to see them built back up to it. Mm-hmm. Maybe get it do better this next time around. But it definitely looked choppy. It looked blocky. Wasn't exactly my favorite match. Yeah. Yeah. It was. I expect, I expected more.'cause Tiffy had been doing so well in every match. Oh my God. I was, I was rather, you know, impressed. Every time she was, she made me like her. I did not like her and she made me like her. It was the wrestling. It has less to do with when she opens her mouth. All right. I feel like, I feel like that's right. I feel like that is very fair. But picking up the win and retaining was Tiffany stretch. The, the, the company still runs, um, TIFF Tie. All right. And now a Match. We were all excited for Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul taking on Randy Orton and Jelly Road. It was beautiful. It was a, it was actually a really good match. Uh, jelly was really overzealous at first wanting, thinking, you know, I can take care of this by myself. You know, him, him and Logan Paul were going at it to start this match. And then Drew tagged in and man is like, come on man, take me and jealous. Like, no, I got this, I got this. So Jelly, or Randy being who he is, starts hyping them up, starts hyping them up. Jelly quickly realized maybe this was a mistake cause Jelly was definitely getting a beat down. Uh, but again, both teams really having a smooth, smooth teamwork. Mm-hmm. They're able to, like, they were able to feed off of each other. They showed really great chemistry, really great wherewithal and. Knowing how to be a good tag team partner. And for this being jelly rolls in ring debut. I was, I was rather impressed. He was, he held his own in there. He did. Even when he was getting escorted out, he wasn't No, no, no, no. I'm in this thing. No, I, I love, he was not about to leave Randy or No, he wasn't gonna leave Randy high and dry and I love that. Yeah. Let's talk about the moment that got him carted off Logan Paul with probably one of the, I hate to admit it because it's Logan Paul. We all hate to admit it. It's fine. But Logan Paul has got such a pretty frog splash. He does. And that frog splash onto jelly through the announced table was. Just smack in the Prime store. Oh my God. Pu the, I was like, wait, is he really try to be so cold with Prime bottles right now? He sure was. And then Jelly's wife talking smack from the sideline. Oh my God. Bunny, we love you. We love you so much. Someone's heard debut best. Oh my God. Used to say that. You really as would heard it. Okay. Okay. Hex. But no, I love Bunny. She, she was just as invested as the rest of US fans. I mean, granted primarily'cause it was her husband, but she was still super invested talking smack talk about how she going to put someone out permanently if they keep trying to beat on her husband. Well, we love the sass. Oh, we love money. We love money. Uh, but yeah, no, we, like I said, jelly Roll. He wasn't a tough son of a gun, man. He is. He, he really like, he got in there. He wasn't letting up for nobody. Jelly. I would like to see you again. I really would. I'm sure. We'll, I'm sure we'll. Alright. Ah, but going into the closing moments, unfortunately, after hitting again another frog splash, uh, Logan Paul was able to pin jelly for the three count. Giving Drew and Logan, uh, the win for the night. Still pills in comparison to the amount of tables Logan Paul has gone through a, uh, jelly milk. You're not wrong because you boss, you got a 1, 2, 3. You still got one two through several tables before this. That's fair. But like that doesn't matter. If you're not, I know, leading to that win, it matters to me. And that's all that matters. All right. I feel like that's fair. Alright. Alright. Our main event for nine of night, one for the World Heavyweight Championship, the Ring General Gunther versus CM punk. A vicious match. A vicious match. So, uh, it seemed the beginning was pretty Gunther heavy. It was Gunther head, the upper hand. For, for the beginning of it land, trying to show, you know, punk that it's like, he can't do this. There's no way. You're not gonna beat me. I'm the ring general, and you're just in this crusty, washed up wrestler. So it, it is exactly what thinks of him. It's what I see in his eyes when he looks at him, it some washed over it. It really is. He went in underestimating, punk, you all right? If you're gonna, if you're gonna go into a match, first off, you never wanna underestimate your opponent, especially if that opponent is CM Punk. He's been known to get it done when he shouldn't. Mm-hmm. We had back and forth, uh, sharpshooters, there's a sharpshooter, there was a transition to the figure four. There was a lot of back and forth submissions, um, and eventually things went ringside. They went out to, you know, the tables, the announced desk, and we see Gunther get laid out all the way through to the announced desk, and the next time we see Gunther scurrying out of, from underneath that desk, he's bloody, he's wearing the, after getting that leg pulled out under him, and we see him emerge bloody, which everyone was taken aback. You just hear the, the audience go like, you never see Gunther bleed like that. That's what I'm, that's what I'm saying. Gunther bleeding. He's a man. What? That's not normal. And I would say that was the beginning of his downfall. Oh yeah. He's not used to it. You know, he's not used to the blood in his eyes. He is been blood free from his face for how long now? That's a very valid point. He forgets the feeling of blood. Yeah. Yeah. You're not wrong. Maybe. Maybe he needed this to remind him he's human. Remind you that you're mortal you are not a god. Yeah. But punk definitely used that to capitalize and delivering to good sleeps to capitalize and take the title off. Gunther. It was a beautiful moment to watch him be so happy in that ring until it was shattered. I was gonna say it was a great moment until, it was, until we got Seth Rollins music. I was gonna, oh, and out on crutches and in a knee brace comes Seth Rollins and Paul Hayman holding the, and you see. See. And Rollins is just mouthing. Enjoy that while you can hold onto that. While you can, turns around. And just drops his crutches and the crowd pops removes that knee brace. I guess while you can mention the next couple seconds'cause Right, he removes that brace, turns around much to the dismay of CM Punk and rips off his jacket, grabs that briefcase and books. It gets it to the rig assault tip of it before officially announcing he's gonna cash in. Once he cashed in. All he needed was the Stomp two three, your new World heavyweight champion theft. Freaking Rollins. He, he stated he was never gonna let him as long as he was around as long he was around. He wasn't letting Juan hold the gold. And my thing is Daario and I called it, we all wanted punk this match, but we all said it. Rollins Rollin's injury hasn't been touched on enough. Yep. For this to be legit wasn't until he brought that little fact back to light that I was like, oh, he's right. I love, I love Becky in all of this though. Mm-hmm. I did. I did see that When she was watching him catch, I was laughing. Were my tweets misleading? Were my tweets misleading? I was laughing, so were my posts. I was like, Becky, no, I love you, but no. Let's talk about the tweet coming from Ria Ripley after, oh my God. She was not happy. She really said, nobody talked to me. Give it back to him. Watch her take it out on Becky. Oh, yeah. Oh yeah. No, there were so many fans. I was scrolling through TikTok and there was somebody with AJ Lee's lc music as a sound, talking about aj. Ah, go cost Becky her icy title. Lay up the Chucks and go cost Becky, her icy title since your, since her husband wanted to cost your husband a championship. Oh my God. I would've cried. I would've cried. But man, Rawlins is really a, they weren't getting, when they called him the architect. Sneaky. Sneaky, because that man had pulled off the shock of the century, the heist of the century, the twist of the century, and the ruse of the century. Two of those happening within the same year. It's wild. Jesus. Oh my God. It was great. It was, but at the same time, great and heartbreaking at the same time. I was gonna say, you know, we're gonna get this back. So many different emotions, you know, we're gonna get this back though. Oh, yeah. Boy, that that is not over in the slightest. It's not slight. I'm excited, but all right. That recaps night one and now we go into night two. Naomi Defense against EO Sky and Ria Bloody Ripley e that Women's World title on the line. We definitely got some fun out of this one. I, I enjoyed this match a lot, RIA and EO with the early team up to try to take out Naomi. Naomi wasn't having none of it though. I I She was able differently. Oh yeah. No, she was, Hey, but she, even with them both coming at her and not really focusing on each other, which I thought was gonna happen mm-hmm. They were really coming back at it. She was really coming back at it like, what's up? I mean, if you think, if, I'm sure if they, they were thinking about it. If they kept each other ripe, then Naomi couldn't get Exactly. They kept forgetting about each other. It's not that they kept forgetting about each other. I think it was takeout. Naomi turned this into the one-on-one match that we wanted. They didn't take her, take her out a lot harder than you did if you wanted that, right? Yeah. You needed to do just a lot more work. You know who her husband is. Come on now. Big Jim, man, Jim, this was a great opening. Oh yeah. This is a really good way to get the, the match started. Everybody was feeling it. We were invested, uh, from the minute they made their entrances. I love that Naomi was a company to, or was played out by her father. That was I, her entrance was actually kind of dope. I'm not gonna lie. That's, that was, I know. I was like, wait, that's her dad. That's so cool. Right. How cool of it to be like her father and be able to play her into her match. No, that's, that must've been one of his proudest moments there. Oh, absolutely. And if it wasn't, you're, you're wrong. You're wrong. You're dead wrong. But no, I, like I said, I loved it. These three women really showed, uh, you could tell it was a little choppy at first. It, because it was a little slow mm-hmm. To start, they, they had to get used to, uh, each other's bearings, but once, once they figured it out and got that ball rolling, I don't think this match had a step that missed. No, not even a little. No. No. But I don't think we expected anything to go. I don't. Right. No, these three women are so talented. They're way too talented, man. So I didn't really expect there to be a lot of missteps or bad critique on match. Yeah, no, it was wonderful. Too many fantastic wrestl time. Exactly my point. Um, inevitably though, as everybody's going at it, you did kind of forget about Naomi for like a second there at the end. It's hard not to pay attention to Maria and El whether they're wrestling, whether they're just being hilarious. Oh my God. They're just great. Speaking of hilarity moments, we're gonna, we're gonna touch on it after, after we, uh, get through the rest of this match because Naomi was able to save her championship quite a lot. Mm-hmm. You know, you thought Ria hitting the rip tide, Naomi, coming in for the save. Obviously it's not that I didn't want you. You to get pinned. I just don't want to lose my championship. Is what that boiled down to, is really what that boiled down to. Mm-hmm. And she did play a captain, save a champ, save a title quite a lot. I, uh, inevitably though going into the closing moments, we were able to see, again, Naomi just being smart and taking advantage of cer of, uh, of certain situations. Uh, able to pick up that three count, retain her title, walk home or walk out of Jersey. Still Women's World Champion Monday Night Raw is going to be very interesting. And then, so I saw this on socials. I'm scrolling through socials last night. I. Maria eo, please Never change because I don't know if you saw, because know what're gonna talk about Maria. Maria is like fireman carrying eo Yep. To the back. And they're just high fiving the crowd as they go. I saw that. I saw that this morning. Like never change. They are so funny. Oh my gosh. I mean, coming in NXT together, they're Oh yeah. No, they've been, they've been around. They kind of find their own little family. They're for, I mean, I feel like on the road though, you have to mm-hmm. You, you don't get to see your family a lot. You're on the road, like you got your, your 38 weeks out of, out of the year. Got your whole family, not more. And your work family. Exactly. So I feel like. At some point you gotta build some kind of camaraderie with the guys, the guys and guys around the road with. Mm-hmm. For sure. For sure. All right, so bring us into match two. The match I was most excited for. Yes. And you were right to be for the WE tag titles, tables, ladders, and chairs. I wanna point out that it's that it, this match takes place 25 years after the first one 25th anniversary of TLC and we get a TLC match D'S and the Hardee's in the crowd. They touch on the fact that in October at Bound for Glory, Hardee's Dudley's. One more time. Lord, this is gonna be amazing. It's gonna be amazing dude. Alright, we had the Yya six. Versus the street prophets versus DIY versus Fram versus Motor City machine guns versus Andrati and Ray Fen. This match did not disappoint from start to mother, fluffing finish. Dude, all six of these teams somehow managed to give us the most controlled but uncontrolled level of chaos right out the bat. I wasn't sure there were gonna be any tables left. By the time this was all done, I wasn't sure anybody was still gonna be standing at the end of this. Well, think about it. Your first instinct was to jump the white was to jump Gacy and Loomis. That's what that, that's how we started the match. Of course, take out the. Take out the biggest, none of them wanted the YT six to have it to begin with. Take out the biggest threats. The biggest threats, right. For sure. But no, and then we're, oh my God, it was, it was real quick, it Axiom and Frazier, you're, once they realized one with how quick they are and two, how everybody was taken out. First Instagram, the ladders, you, I love that way. Barrett said that they really should be called the blur'cause of how quickly they move. They that I'm not arguing with that. I also agree they should just be comfort blur. They are really, you just, you blink and they're all of a sudden somewhere else and you're like, how'd you get there? No. And they really made that point with, after they grabbed the ladder, they're going back and forth with, I wanna say it was the prophets. And as soon as like the briefest second frazier's already like halfway up the ladder, like, sir, you were just punching like montez forward in the face. When did you have, when did you climb the ladder type thing? We should talk about when DIY tried to send Montez forward into a table and he cleared it and instead took everybody in the forehead. Oh my God. Yes. They really said, Hey. He said, I know I'm gonna just go ahead and jump. And there went a good chunk of the, uh, a good chunk of the competitors right there. Mountain Sport is like deceptively athletic because like I can see him being, you know. Like, if you're not familiar with Ford, with Montez, you could see him, you know, maybe being this like brawler kind of guy, maybe a groundwork kind of guy, and then you see him like start to really move around and you're just like, sure. I'm not sure how, how to feel about the fact that you're able to just move, move like this. Like DOS is also a deceptively athletic guy for as big as he is. Uh, I like the, the four table spots though. Mm-hmm. Specifically for that part. The Spanish fly from the top rope. Because you had, what was it, Axiom and Angela Dawkins up there. It an yeah, but no, I'm trying to, I'm trying to think of the order on how things went. Oh man. Because I believe they put Gacy through a table first. Uh, yeah, I, that sounds right. Then Loomis went through a table with, I wanna say it was, uh, Johnny followed by Frazier, putting one of the guns through a table, and then you had Champ on the table. Dawkins looks like he's about to, you know, hit a big splash. Axio meets him at the top rope and then hits that Spanish fly through the table. I was, oh my goodness. I was really hoping Champ still would've been there. Mm-hmm. But like, I was like, holy crap, that was awesome. Just ding dink, dink ding. Tables getting broken everywhere as well as bodies.'cause ain't nobody's standing up right after, after that one. Like everybody's hurting today. I know it. And then shortly later, who do we see? Swoop into that ring. Turning it into a ladies' match as well. Here comes Candace. Then comes Bfab Fab. Now Nikki Cross is involved. Oh, they turned to Delaney's night. Yeah. Yeah. No, I don't know if Wade and Michael said that. I think, I think Wade said it too, like apparently we can, it became a lady CLC match. Go to Wade Parret on. He was cracking me up. Do Wade all nights? Oh my gosh, no. What about favorite commentary moments is they're talking about all these, you know, they're talking about seas and then they're talking about Mike's harder, her Lemonade, and they're talking about how like, you know, we're really promoting this, we're doing a lot of work. Why do we not have, we have water, but right now we need some food. Like, like, like like between both like Michael Cole and Wade Barr. Just trying to like, hey. Bring us the booze to the commentary table. Like, sir, y'all got jobs to do. And Michael Cole, you already said it. Once you start drinking and you get drunk, you're not exactly the most functioning human being. Why does that sound like It'd be the funniest thing. What? That's Oh my God. Oh my God. No. So Cardi B was the host. Mm-hmm. And they were talking, and Wade was talking about how, yeah, I want hear, you know, all these rappers. You say, oh, you're a guy. You, you're a real big rap fan. I want to hear you bust out some Cardi B lyrics. He was like, that'll Michael Cole's response. That'll be later at the park when I'm drunk. But yeah, no, we got Women's T back to, we got women's TLCA. Briefly. Briefly. Candace is able to like recover after beef F and everybody else, she starts to climb. Montez is, you know, champ, uh, is also is fighting everybody off Gargano's at the top of the ladder. Mm-hmm. Candace is at the top of the ladder, like they're both trying to win this for DIY. Mm-hmm. Montez is able to like, uh, after Champa fights off, everybody Monte is, is able to catch the upper hand kick, uh, kick Champa back into the ladder, tipping Johnny's ladder into Candace's ladder and Candace goes clean through the la through a, through a setup ladder. I thought Garo was holding the ladder when that happened. And then Montez got, oh, that's what it was into him. Champa got knocked. In took Gargano leading gargano to tip set ladder that, that Candace was his face. And dude, his face at the end, just pure shock. Like, like, oh, oh my gosh. I just put my wife through the ladder. No, TE's face is what killed me though. Oh, yes. Oh my. All all, anytime anything crazy happens, we should just immediately panned him on his voice. I swear to God. Can he be, his facial expressions are so good every time. Oh, he does not disappoint. But like his face, you could tell there was a genuine look. Like it was a look of concern. But also, my bad, my bad, y'all. Anyway, continue do the match. All righty. So after the unfortunate cam dis leray incident, um, Eric Rowan, he, he gets involved Wade Barrett's commentary. Talking about Eric Rowland is about the size of two of these themes. If they were to just morph into one being I, like I was, I was shouting at, uh, the TV at Wade Barr getting upset about Eric Row. I was like, you didn't say anything about the girls? No, no, no. They definitely make comments and like, bro, why are they getting involved? But at the same time would be saying that if Eric Rowen was Erica Rowan, shut up. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. All right. So Eric Rowen got back involved with the street prophets, um, and then can talk about how that man, like took a chair beat down Yep. And then got up. Like he didn't just get brutalized with a bunch of steel chairs. Yep. Why? But shortly after Eric Rowan gets taken up, who's dread headed Mappy face mask, but pops up in the middle of that ring, uncle Howdy. Stir in the pot a little bit. Stir in the little pot a little bit. Ends up at the top of that ladder with DIY getting, what was the, that move he does, he was hitting, he hit them with the mandible claw mandible claw hits him with the mandible claw at the top of that ladder. Like, you're not getting Liz, I don't, my dead body. Eventually he, you know, pops off and then I think it was Andrati who goes up? No, there next. Oh, I just say, so, I just say it was Ade. No, it was Phenix. Phen went up there. He gets the mandible claw and then gets saved by Andrati. There we go. Um, well that didn't work. That didn't work out so well for him because then Andrade got the drop on him of course. And, uh, Dexter Loomis, Joe Gacy returned. They cleared things out. One of my favorite moments in this match, ah, of the year before we get into these closing moments. Mm-hmm. So Champ has got the titles and they moved the ladder, I think the gun then moved the ladder into the corner. Frazier gets into the corner, gets onto the ladder. Y you could tell they're about to recreate the, uh, edge and Jeff Hardy incident from 25 years ago. If you don't remember that moment, uh, Hardy's hanging from the titles Edge Ladder spearing right off the belts. I'm thinking we're gonna recreate that moment. And this just goes to show the core strength that Tomaso Champa has progressive man, him able to like swing his legs and flip so that way he, there is no actual way to like hold himself upside down. My jaw literally dropped when you did that. Are. Are you kidding? And Fraser eats the canvas for Razer, for Johnny to then move the ladder back so Champ can be back upright instead of upside down like a bat and from the top. All right, well I don't remember. Was it Loomis or Gacy? Climbed the ladder. Gacy. So then Gacy climbs the ladder to retain the tag team titles as the crowd is booing. I don't think any of us actually had, I don't think any of us really picked the whites to win that match. Actually, two of us did. Oh, on my side. Ooh, me and I believe Ruo. Okay. Okay. And then Cauldron chose Andrati and FedEx. Okay. It was Mia and Ruo that chose it. Makes sense. Why at six? But, all right. Women's Intercontinental Championship on the line. Becky Lynch versus Lara Ria. Becky Wind RA can no longer challenge for the title as long as Becky has the title man that, oh, it's a match. What you gotta say about it. Hanks, my brain immediately went to the end of the match. So let's just go through the match. Let's go through the match. First off, crowd interaction, crowd participation really wasn't there. I think we're just over this feud. The crowd, the crowd agrees with us. The, the match itself wasn't actually mad. No, no. I'm gonna say that match is really good, but I think we're just tired of this view at this point. Yeah, it did get pretty violent pretty quickly. Sure did. Um, going through this match, Becky was able to endure a lot of lyra's emotional state pretty early. We got the introduction of a few kendo sticks. Becky probably has gotta be one of the smartest women on the roster. She had an upper hand through most of this. She did. She did. And for good reason. She's, she's not the man for no reason. Just that, no. As her intro said, Becky Lynch being held down by the man, she ain't Becky Lynch no more. She's the man. She is. Becky Lynch is being held down by the man. Exactly. I will say I do love the new entrance though. I do too. I was like, Ooh, new entrance. Me and Tristan are watching. We're like, I don't know when this happened, but I'm not mad at it. I'm not mad at it either. Well, I missed the Oh yeah. Oh yeah. We were, we were definitely talking about that. But it doesn't fit what she's doing right now. Exactly. So, but the, the introduction of that toolbox able to like get her able to attack Lyra's rib with it and then zip tied her hands together. Oh my gosh. I remember. Yo, you. Pretty, pretty impressive. Like how I was able to operate with no hands for a little while. Especially that moon salt. Cause how do you get, she gotta figure it out. How do you get proper rotation on a moon salt without being able to properly use your hands to get yourself over? I will. First off, I couldn't even do a moon salt. I'd be too scared. I feel like, you know what? I, I don't, I don't blame you.'cause same, same girly girl. Same. Uh, but going in, you know, we're talking, we're doing this, you know, zip ties, eventually lyra's able to break free not before getting hung up on the ring post and getting battered with a, oh my gosh. She used her like a pinata. Oh, Lara needed some time to figure out how she was gonna get out of this. Oh yeah, she definitely did. Yeah. Um, one thing we noticed is I'm the, uh, after she was zipped. Mm-hmm. After her hands got zip tied, the belly to belly. If you watch that segment, why was hand actually pops out of the zip tie? Yep. I, I noticed the camera, like she put, goes away when she put it back in. We were like, I know me and Cauldron were looking at each other like, oh, like at that. There was no other hand in there at that moment. Right. We were like, it was there at first and then she hid it. I looked at Twisted. I was like, at that point I would've just rolled with it. I would've just taken my free hand, removed the zip type from the other one and then got back to action. I'm just saying, I am just saying, but I get it for the sake of keeping things healthy, they were supposed to. I will say one of my, another really f fun moment, uh, it was ra hiding under the roof. Pretty great. Uh, but going into, uh, our closing moments, Becky tried to use this chain. Uh, on the outside, on ra. Mm-hmm. Uh, like he tries to go use it and, you know, she's taking forever and we're like, all right, something's gonna happen. Something's gonna happen. This was like when the table was over or the chair was over. Yeah. She had a crowbar. That's what it was. The crowbar. Mm-hmm. Uh, so we're like, okay, something's gonna happen. She's taking a while to really get this set up and what happened? Here comes Bailey. Bailey is like, all right, cool. What well are you doing? Takes the, takes the crowbar from Becky. He, they get, they manage to get back in the ring. Bailey's kind of just out there at this point. Becky's trying to get Bailey to attack Lyra. Almost trying to like instigate another issue. Mm-hmm. Uh, saying it's Lyra's fault that she's in the spot she's in. Right. Uh, Becky goes to, or Bailey goes to swing on Becky with the chain wrapped around her. Uh, doesn't get Becky hit Lyra instead the shotgun on Bailey's face. Like obviously it wasn't Uhhuh intentional, I don't think Lyra will see it that way. Oh no. Lyra definitely won't see it that way. Especially'cause Yeah. But it, with that, as with that accidental assist, Becky's able to take advantage, pick up the three count, retain her title. RA no longer gets a chance at the IC, women's IC title, as long as the man is holding it and they're gonna reignite the Bailey Lyra if you, that's the match. We wanted to be, we wanted Lyra or we wanted Bailey Becky to begin with. So we're, they're clearly doing a, a Bailey Lyra thing, so Yeah. Yeah. But All right, go ahead and bring us into the next one, Ms. Hets. Alright, the next match for the US title in a steel cage solo Koa versus Jacob fa two. Uh, we know how I feel about this match. I felt it was lackluster for cage match, especially given we had so many stipulation matches in night too. And this one should not have been the most boring. And it was no, honestly, like, given the two men that were in this match, I, I expected a lot more than what we got. Oh yeah. Oh yes. And we all know they can go to those places. They've done it, but they were, it was just them for a little bit. But once Tu was getting too much of the upper hand outcomes to, or Tanga, JC Mateo. And Tala Tonga, the MFT, the MFTs, the rest of the MFTs come out and try to, you know, help solo out. Atu goes to try to fight a ball off. Um, Jimmy Yu also does try to run interference parents. I applaud his effort, but when I heard his music and I was like, you better not come alone. You're gonna need help. He comes along. Could have at least bought a chair with you, man. Yeah, that's what I was hoping. I was like, why didn't you have weapon, a chair, a crowbar or steel pipes on? Then, although he was able to help a little bit, eventually the numbers took it over and he got, wasn't even he thrown over a table. It wasn't even the numbers, it was Tyler Tongue is big seven foot. But yeah, that guy, freaking tree. He is a, he is a giant oak tree of a man. Yes. Um. And so eventually they start scaling and Fatu tries to counter best he can, but eventually he gets handcuffed to the top of the cage and we think it's all over. Solo is free and clear. He calls for that door to be opened, but much his dismay, Fatou has broken the cuffs and goes to try to drag him back. Uh, I believe the door gets slammed on him, right? Uh, he goes to drag him back. He, he's able to see, see it with that, that time again. They're going, they're going at it again. He goes to solo, goes to escape through the door again. That's when, that's when the door gets, uh, smacked on Jacob's head. Yep. And then solo rolls out. Is able to just fall out of the cage and is able to retain. And so Tala and Solo start, you know, making their way towards, you know, towards the ramp and Jimmy Pops up, takes out, I was like, so you could have popped up like 45 seconds sooner, takes out JC Mateo and puts him back into that cage and closes the door to an angry Jacob Fatou who decides to get some of this anger out, I think are long from over with these guys crawls up to the top of the cage and moon salts onto Toga, LOA and jc. Oh yeah. And Solo and Talo are definitely not in a rush to go help. You know, you would think, you know, M fts. I'm trying, there's two of you. One of you is big. You could easily take out Jimmy. Go help your people. But no, you don't wanna get your, your face hurt a little more. That's fair. He's, he's, he's acting like Roman reigns. Oh my God. He's, when Roman res was travel to you. Everyone else do my bidding. I've got my enforce you here to make sure I stay safe. But the rest of y'all, you have fun. Better figure it out. I feel like that's fair. Um, now going into probably what was one of my favorite non stipulation matches, I can agree with this one. Uh, styles and Dom basically the giant love letter to Eddie Guerrero. It was beautiful. Think about it like Styles comes out in Eddie themed gear in the low rider with his son. Yep. With his son. Like this whole thing was just a, a giant love letter that to Eddie. And a touchback on the, uh, the custody of Dominic Ladder Match, uh, 20 years ago. Oh man. I need to go back and watch that. Oh my God. You had him come out with his son who was blonde. Baby Dom at the time was blonde. He was a cute kiddo. Styles comes out in Eddie gear. Uh, Tom's gear represented his father from that time. It was, it was a lot of fun. Uh, going into it. You got to see a lot of similar similarity in their fight styles for the, for, for the most part. But Dom really did hold his own against a, a true vet. The true vet that is AJ's style. It's been nice hearing Dominic get some crowd favor. Oh my God. I assume I not you, you're, you're, you're getting to watch him grow finally. Mm-hmm. And not in a bad way. Like he is really starting to be, I think he's still getting used to not being booed. I think so, but I think, again, I think the crowd is just appreciating the work that he's put in. Mm-hmm. We could, we've seen him grow throughout the judgment day. They really taught him some good stuff. Oh yeah. He's, he's, he's a sponge. Right. And day difference there. Yeah. No, he's, he's a sponge when it comes to this business. He's willing to learn pretty much whatever, whenever. As long as he is learning. As long as you're learning and, you know, utilizing what you've learned to better your career, which he has done props you, it's been a privilege to see him grow as a competitor and as a wrestler. Like Yeah. I'm proud of him. I'm proud of how far he's come so far. Oh yeah. But we, uh, so one of my favorite moments, Dom. Undoes the, uh, the turn buckles. Ty Nty and Ref wa is watching him. He's like, dude, what the hell are you doing? So, while the ref is, you know, trying to get the turn buckle pad out comes down, slides the steel chair in, smacks the, uh, the canvas, throws it to styles, lays it down. Paige, out of Eddie's playbook through and through styles is realizing the ref is almost done with the turn buckle. I'm gonna put the chair around my neck. I'm gonna drop to the floor real quick. The leg twitch. Oh my God. The extra leg twit. He really tried to solve that thing. It was great. He did, he did well. Then he left so hard just watching his leg twitch. I was, oh my God. I was like, dude, the level of commitment, the rest turns around, sees both guys are down. Uhhuh, is it sure what happened? How it happened? Lets the match continue. Smart move. Who are you gonna put the blame on there? Right? Like Styles has been working the legs. He hit a couple calf crushes at this point in the match. Mm-hmm. And he hits this most re this last one and Dom's boot comes off. Mm-hmm. Just, ah. So we're thinking, you know, the boot broke, whatever. There's a moment where the ref ducks so he doesn't get, you know, caught in the crossfire of these guys. Dom is able to capitalize, use that boot, hit a frog, splash and retain his title I, I thoroughly enjoyed all of that. Just'cause like one, it wasn't your typical Dom Judgment Day match, like Judgment day didn't get involved. They really. Dom really showed he can do it on his own, but also still was that underhanded heel. Mm-hmm. And again, this whole match to me was just a love letter to Eddie. It was after the match that we found out, found out Dom's boot didn't break, he loosened it. He was thinking smart, not harder. Right, right. He worked hard or he worked smart. Not hard. Let the boot break.'cause he, which, which is what Eddie did. Oh, he was, he was a master at, he loosened that boot. Eddie's done that before. So another, again, another page out of Eddie's playbook. Uh, he's, but loosened it knowing he can bait styles into that calf crusher. And that's where he was able to take advantage so he can retain his title. Alright. Leading into the main event, straight fight for the WWE championship, John Sita. Versus Cody Rhodes. So was an intense tense match. So I wanna point out Cena definitely, uh, stuck to his word and he's back. He's back. We got the collar back. He was talking to the camera man. He was, he was having him. So a long time. He was having so much fun. Mm-hmm. It was the rundown to the ring, the salute, the Iman to throw my hat and my shirt to the crowd and came back to us and had a lot of fun. It was nice seeing him have fun again instead of stone face. Yeah. You know. But, uh, this match got pretty intense, pretty fast. There was respect shown in the very beginning. And then let's go. And then immediately this line. Oh yeah, they definitely, they weren't holding back from the start. There was that little bit of respect for one another. And then let's go. And then, oh yeah, they definitely out the gate fists were flying. Um, it was a straight fight, so I don't know how soon Intuit that we ended up grabbing. Well, the table was the table first, right? I believe so. A after, I thought there would be no more tables that weren't broken after that TLC match, I mean, yeah. Um, so can you uh, we, uh, re re uh, so yeah, as we're going,'cause again, things got real hard, real heavy right out the gate. Uh, we got to the outside, uh, was it, I think Cody got thrown into the steel steps. Yes. Mm-hmm. Could have got thrown. Okay. Uh, we pulled off some tables. We got some chairs. It's, they, they, they took this street fight stipulation for advantage with, for everything that it, everything that they could, they didn't waste time. No. No, it's not. Uh, at one point Sena goes to pick up the stairs. Actually. They're in the ring, the bottom set of the stairs. To the heaviest part. Yes. Like Sena goes to, uh, throw styles into the chair or into the steps. Doesn't work. Styles is or not Styles. Roads is able to, you know, kind of counteract slam Cena against those steps. Cena's eventually able to send roads into the outside. He picks up the stairs. There really is no good way to block it. He throws'em at Cody and we're like, well sir, yeah, you're gonna kinda have to eat that one. Way Barrett even said it on a commentary. There is really no good way to block stairs being thrown at you. You're just gonna have to eat it. Um, but as we're going, you know Right. We've seen, we, we got to see an early five knuckle shuffle. We got to see, uh, a few AA attempts. We, uh, get countered. We saw the crossroads get counted a few times. Uh, and even when he was able to hit it, I dunno why you, it's super senior, bro. Mm-hmm. Why did you think one was gonna be enough to put him down? But as the, as this match continues, it's actually just getting a lot more violent. Mm-hmm. At one point, I think it was Cody that unscrewed the bottom, ah, turnbuckle the bottom turnbuckle. So now he has part of the rope and he, you. They're, they're going at it. He goes to swing it. Cena's able to hit him with an AA and uses the rope, the nail unfound rope to like strap in an STF. That was I, I, I like that a lot. Cody. That was awesome. Cody was definitely able to, you know, get outta, that was great. Counter where, you know, we're building towards these closing moments. Cody hits Cena with a bulldog off the top, through a table. That part I, I, I'm thinking, you know, that's where we're done. Cena's able to hit, uh, and no, it wasn't Cena's able to hit a, a few aas, not get the job done. Cody then posts that Bulldog go at it for, for a few, few more hits. About three more crossroads to finally you put the match away. Walk out of New Jersey, your new WWE e champion. Should we talk about when they, uh, ended up under the stage and then popped up through, oh my God. So at, at one point in the match we're, you know, going through the outside, we're under the entrance stage, and there's that elevator shaft that Cody had used during his entrance. Cena is just carrying this man on his shoulders as they come up. We're like, what hits him with an AA on the entrance wrap the child top one that happened. Oh dude, it was great, but he's able to hit him with an AA on the ramp. You know, they're, they make their way back to the ring. Go again. They're going at it, you know, this is the biggest prize in the company. This is what I want. This is what I need. But we get the one, the two, the three Cody wins. They have their exchange at the end of show of respect. Cody leaves. See this kind of just taking in, you know, this is my last summer slam. I'm taking in the crowd one more time. Taking the crowd know. Yep. And then just when you thought it was over, just when you thought it was over. Much like night one, like I look at Twisted Like Brother taking two. Mm-hmm. They're taking way too long. I know. I remember at the end of it, I had clicked the button to pause'cause I had to watch later and I was like, I looked at Cauldron and I was like, there's still like seven minutes left. I'm like, dude, what is going on? And we just stare at each other in silence for a few minutes. Then we hear the music and then you hear that music, that guitar riff. And then I just out. Out comes Brock Lesner and all you hear is twisted. That's one scary cowboy. Yeah. Yeah. He's a very scary cowboy. Brock Lesner, what are you doing here? Well, we all saw the look on Cena's face. Just, uh, he was not happy to see Lesner. I don't think any anybody was happy to see Lesner, although I suppose we could not have a fair, a farewell to wear without, without one of his biggest rivals though. Rock Lesner. Um, so we're Lesner comes down, he kind of paces the ring a little, puts the, puts his hat down on the, uh, commentator table. Gets in hits, hit Cena with an F five walks away. I'm like, yo, well what? Um, and then they cut and they go straight into the pro post show at it's still, you know, Lesner. Standing outside. His music's playing. He's about to walk back. Sena then gets his music played as he's leaving the arena and Cena's like, no, I want, I want to hear this one last time. Has them turn off his music. He walks back next few Cena Lesner, they, it's gonna be a fun one. Mm-hmm. Because we haven't seen this dude in a while. We haven't seen Lesner in a really long time. Yeah. I'm excited to see what, how the rest of this farewell tour goes. Certainly. See, like we got four months left with, I'm not ready, I'm not ready for my childhood to go, man. I'm not. It's gonna be okay, brother pyro, but all right, that recaps both nights one and two of Summer Slam weekend. We hope you enjoyed it just as much as we did. If not more, we will catch you.
